Job Description
Senior Clinical Fellow in Breast Medical Oncology

The closing date is 15 March 2026

Clinical Fellow in Breast Medical Oncology ST3-ST5 (MT04) - no on call commitments.

Appointment to this post offers excellent experience of medical oncology for those wishing to pursue a career in this field. There is an active postgraduate teaching programme and all oncology trainees (or equivalent) are expected to attend. The department has a wide portfolio of clinical trials and an active clinical research programme. Post holders will work directly with one or more Consultant Oncologists and alongside other oncology specialist trainees. Experience in Medical Oncology at ST level is essential. All candidates should have full registration with the GMC and MRCP or equivalent is essential.

Main duties of the job

This is a full time post based at UCH to start from May 2026. The post is for 12 months. The post will involve an opportunity to work with the Breast medical oncology team and gain experience in clinical and trial management in a renowned tertiary cancer centre with multidisciplinary input and strong research interests.

Person Specification Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Member of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent
  • GMC registration - Non UK trained doctors must be on the GMC register by date of appointment having completed both PLAB1 & 2
  • Completed core medical training or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the Clinical Governance framework of the NHS (including Research governance) and understanding of current changes in the organisation and management structures of the NHS. Ability to act within these parameters
Experience
  • Experience in medical oncology
  • Experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Undergoing or completed higher specialist training in medical oncology
  • Experience of laboratory research
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability and commitment to teach in a clinical setting
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload, to delegate responsibility as appropriate and to supervise staff
  • Good inter personal skills with an ability to work co operatively in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment & on own initiative
  • Understanding of research methodology
  • Presentation skills
Communication
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written. Good command of written and spoken English
