Senior Claims Professional

A leading marine insurance group is seeking a Senior Claims Professional to join its growing team, supporting with claims across North America. This is a varied and hands-on role managing a broad range of claims but with a focus on personal injury, with responsibility for complex and high-value matters such as Jones Act, third-party injuries, FFO, collisions, and casualties.

This role would suit someone with strong maritime claims experience and dealing with complex personal injury claims, excellent communication skills, and a proactive, professional approach to client service. Occasional travel to the US may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and resolve a range of P&I and Defence claims (e.g. personal injury, collision, casualty) including complex and high value claims.
• Provide timely advice and maintain strong client relationships
• Maintain accurate claim records and support internal reporting requirements
• Assist with audit, training, and mentoring of junior staff as needed
• Contribute to internal process improvements
• Collaborate with underwriting and other departments as required

Person Specification:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in handling maritime personal injury or shipping litigation claims (from a P&I Club, insurer, legal practice, ship owner or agent)
• Strong working knowledge of international shipping and dispute resolution practices
• Degree educated (preferred but not essential)
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including negotiation and reporting skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong attention to detail, well-organised and self-motivated
• Comfortable working independently and within a collaborative team environment
