North-West Bristol, close to M4/M5 junction (3 days/week in the office, with the rest worked from home)

Overview

An exciting opportunity exists for Civil Engineers specialising in the design and analysis of large concrete structures, with ideally some steel structures experience, and knowledge of relevant Eurocodes. The role supports EDF's Hinkley 'C' nuclear power station construction project.

Location Details

The position is based in north-west Bristol, near the M4/M5 junction (BS32 4TR). This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days/week in the office and the remaining days from home.

Experience Requirements

Previous nuclear industry experience is not essential. Experience in the design and analysis of large structures in regulated industries such as oil and gas, power stations, petrochemical, or chemical industries is acceptable.

Main Activities

1. Producing technical documents such as handover reports or hypothesis notes.
2. Raising and following up on technical open points.
3. Supporting the civil building lead in resolving transverse/complex technical open points and coordinating with the L3 civil designer and other stakeholders for design production.
4. Supporting the contract engineering lead in preparing progress reports for the Project Manager, highlighting technical risks, and reviewing technical proposals for variations.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

1. Experience in concrete and/or steel structures design and analysis.
2. Engineering design office experience, especially in designing large structures.
3. Experience in detailed design processes.
4. Strong communication skills.
5. Nuclear industry experience is advantageous but not required; experience in regulated heavy industries is also acceptable.
