Senior Category Manager GMS Procurement

Position Summary

Responsible for the development and implementation of Global Category Strategies for Global Packaging for Biologics and Pharma manufacturing Platforms at Zoetis. Oversee contract execution/management to support the Global Packaging category strategies, endorse and implement global Continuous Improvement Program (CIP) initiatives, and coordinate Supplier Risk Management & Value Beyond Savings initiatives. Lead Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) Governance activities within Global Manufacturing & Supply Procurement and support global manufacturing sites with CIPs, contract execution, and supplier performance improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develop category strategies for Global Packaging materials within assigned spending areas.
• Update Global Packaging Category Strategies through benchmarking, industry best practices, new technical developments, and future Zoetis GMS needs.
• Negotiate contracts to support Global Category Strategies for Global Packaging materials.
• Develop and monitor contract management processes ensuring timely execution and compliance with company guidelines.
• Provide pricing guidance to biologic site procurement teams on strategic vendors for annual budget preparation and New Product Introduction (NPI).
• Develop a rolling 3 year program of CIP initiatives for Global Packaging Category Strategies.
• Support supply risk modelling to identify, eliminate, or minimise risks associated with Global Packaging materials supply.
• Support the development and phased implementation of the Global Packaging materials SRM program.
• Design, set, and monitor KPIs to improve third party performance and contract compliance.
• Coordinate and track continuous improvement, value beyond savings, supplier performance, and project updates for the GMS Procurement Leadership Team.
• Coordinate with Quality and Operations to ensure compliance with Zoetis guidelines and policies.
• Support Global QA & EHS initiatives, including ongoing modelling for Global Packaging materials suppliers.
• Coordinate with other functions and stakeholders to ensure timely implementation and compliance with agreed sourcing/project strategies.
• Evaluate and monitor market conditions to support sourcing strategies.
• Conduct annual reviews of site purchased and managed packaging materials to ensure compliance with global category strategies, contracts, and supplier risk management policy.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, or Procurement & Supply Chain.
• Advanced qualifications such as an MBA are preferable.
• 5+ years of experience in Category Strategy Development within the Pharma/Bio Pharma industry.
• Technical or manufacturing background in the Bio Pharma/Pharma industry.
• Knowledge of Global Packaging materials supply base to support Pharma, Biologics, and Vaccine production.
• Track record of managing complex, cross functional activities on a global basis.
• Senior level stakeholder management experience with major Global Packaging materials suppliers.
• Proven data/business management experience in a strategic context.
• Proficiency in evaluating, assessing, and initiating action with recognition of business and people impacts.

Organizational Relationships

Directly reports to the Sr. Director, Biologics and APAC Procurement. Works closely with GMS Biologics Platform Site Procurement leads, Category Strategy Leads, Site Leads, Quality, EHS, GMT, and VMRD functions. Maintains relationships with Global Packaging materials supply base and external enabling functions.

• Strategic sourcing management of approximately US $140million in annual spend.
