What will I be doing:

You will join the rapidly expanding R&D team in Cambridge. The R&D teams at Darktrace create and improve the products behind the company's rapid growth. Our software engineers work on a wide variety of projects and with a diverse toolset. As a Senior C++ focused Software Engineer, you will be responsible for improving our ability to stop in-progress cyber-attacks using proprietary software and third-party integrations.

In this role, you will work daily with core software modules written in C++ and be confident working with various technologies and applications. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Working within small, task-specific teams with experienced members.
2. Working independently on new ideas and projects.
3. Prioritising tasks effectively within the broader project scope and addressing immediate challenges.

This is a hybrid role, with a minimum expectation of 2 days per week working in the Cambridge office.

What experience do I need:

We seek candidates with a solution-focused mindset and an analytical approach to problem-solving. During the interview, you should demonstrate your proficiency in C++ programming and your experience with writing production-level code. Familiarity with Linux environments, Docker, containers, networking, and domain knowledge is also important. Additionally, you are likely to:

1. Work autonomously and make independent decisions, while also collaborating effectively within a team.
2. Show interest or knowledge in cybersecurity/malware forensics.
3. Have experience with statistical analysis of static or dynamic systems.
4. Possess knowledge of cloud computing environments, which would be beneficial.
