Grade and Salary: Grade 8, £46,735 - £57,422

FTE and working pattern: 1 FTE, 35hrs per week, Monday - Friday

Holiday Entitlement: 33 days annual leaveplus 9 buildings closed days (and Christmas Eve when it falls on a weekday)

Purpose of Role

As our Senior Azure Cloud Engineer, you'll be the technical lead for Microsoft Azure within our Cloud & Datacenter team. You'll architect and implement cloud solutions that power major initiatives like:

• The Digital Student Experience Programme - migrating our Student Records system to Azure
• Re-architecting on-premise systems for the cloud
• Implementation and migration of our new virtual server infrastructure
• Provide infrastructure and security skills supporting our network transformation to HP Aruba and ClearPass technologies

You'll also help shape our cloud strategy, ensure security in collaboration with our Cyber Security team, and work closely with stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead the design, deployment, and management of Azure-based cloud environments
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to deliver robust, secure infrastructure
• Monitor and troubleshoot systems to ensure optimal performance
• Document processes and share knowledge across the team
• Support users and respond to helpdesk requests
• Contribute to datacenter operations including virtualization, servers, and backups

Essential Criteria

1. A degree, professional certification, or equivalent experience
2. 3+ years of proven, hands-on experience with Azure cloud architecture and services
3. Familiarity with firewalls and networking in cloud environments
4. Strong background in server and virtualization technologies
5. A collaborative mindset and a passion for solving complex problems
6. Excellent communication and documentation skills
