Senior Automation Engineer

MCS Group are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join a global leader in the FinTech industry as a part of the expansion of their Belfast operations. This person will focus on automated testing of a dark pool trading system (ATS). This role is fully back-end automation (no UI/Selenium testing) and requires strong Python coding skills in a fast-paced financial technology environment. Key Responsibilities

• Develop automated tests in a Python-based framework for ATS functionality.
• Work closely with developers and product specialists to ensure robustness of trading systems.
• Apply object-oriented programming principles to build reliable, scalable tests.
• Contribute to improving the quality of mission-critical financial platforms.

The Ideal Person

• Back-end automation engineers and developers with strong OOP skills.
• Strong hands-on Python (back-end development/testing focus).
• Solid object-oriented programming background (Java, C++, etc. also considered).
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Experience with trading systems (ATS, equities, FIX protocol) highly desirable.

Desirables

• FIX protocol knowledge.
• Java experience.
• Domain experience in equities trading systems (preferred but not essential).

Salary - Up to £65,000
