Job Description
What is the opportunity?

Group Internal Audit is the third line of defence for Bank of Ireland Group. Our purpose is to help make Bank of Ireland better by providing independent assurance on the effectiveness of risk management and internal controls.

This Senior Audit Manager role is a visible and influential position within GIA, where you will act as a subject matter expert for cybersecurity risk, shaping assurance activity across the Group and supporting key partners, including senior management, the Board and regulators.

In this role, you will:
  • Act as a senior risk expert for cybersecurity, providing ongoing monitoring and contributing to the Group Internal Audit control environment opinion.
  • Lead individual audit and assurance engagements end?'to?'end, from scoping through to reporting clear, impactful audit opinions.
  • Design and deliver risk?'based assurance activity in collaboration with leadership to address key cybersecurity and technology risks.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with senior partners across the Group to provide objective, independent challenge.
  • Work closely with colleagues across GIA to evaluate controls and provide clear, practical insights that support better outcomes.
What will make you stand out?

You bring deep expertise in cybersecurity risk management and internal audit, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a regulated financial services environment. You are comfortable leading through influence, navigating governance forums and engaging confidently with senior leaders.

You have a strong strategic mentality and can translate complex technical risks into clear, business?'focused insights for executive and Board audiences. Your communication and report?'writing skills enable you to deliver concise, actionable recommendations. You are resilient, adaptable and commercially aware, with a strong understanding of how Bank of Ireland operates and the risks it faces.

Experience with the following will help you stand out but is not required to apply for this role:

  • Cloud, data management, privacy, third?'party risk management or programme risk
  • IT or payments auditing in a large, complex organisation
Essential qualifications

A professional qualification such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or an accountancy qualification is required.

Group Internal Audit provides independent, risk?'focused assurance, insight and opinion across Bank of Ireland Group. We work closely with the Board, Group Audit Committee, senior management and regulators to support the achievement of the Group's strategic objectives.

This is a hybrid role, based primarily at Baggot Plaza, Dublin. We typically ask colleagues to spend a minimum of 8 days per month working in?'person to support collaboration and connection. Specific arrangements will be confirmed by your recruiter to ensure they meet the needs of the role and team.
