Senior Architectural Technologist

A Senior Architectural Technologist leads the development of technical design solutions, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of constructability, performance and compliance.
They demonstrate advanced expertise in building materials, construction methods, building regulations, BIM and digital design tools.
They report to an Associate, Senior Associate and/or Director to take ownership of complex architectural packages.
They are responsible for leading elements of projects from concept to completion, ensuring design quality and technical accuracy while coordinating across disciplines.
They ensure project deliverables are met on time and as per the client requirements.
A Senior Architectural Technologist also plays a key role in client engagement, proposal submissions, tenders, and business development activities, representing the firm.
They will play a senior role and act as a mentor to the project team.
This role offers opportunities for progression to Associate level, depending on performance, leadership, and technical capability.
ExperienceA Senior Architectural Technologist has a proven track record of taking full ownership of work packages, managing them independently from concept design through to construction stage deliverables.
They are responsible for producing conceptual and sketch designs, preparing presentation materials, and ensuring that all work complies with relevant standards and is practical to build.
They contribute to cost management by incorporating budget considerations into technical decisions, identifying opportunities to optimise profitability while maintaining high-quality outcomes. In addition, they play a key role in developing architectural standards and design solutions, while fostering collaborative relationships with clients, suppliers, and peers.
They are experienced in quality assurance processes, continuously supporting improvements in procedures and service delivery.
With extensive experience in detailed design, technical documentation, and managing multidisciplinary teams, they thrive in dynamic environments and deliver projects that balance innovation, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Advanced technical, documentation and detailing experience.
- Advanced construction knowledge, regulatory compliance and building performance.
- Advanced BIM and digital design tool proficiency.
- Client engagement and relationship building.
- Bachelor or higher degree of Architectural Technology or industry related equivalent.
- Minimum 8 years of post qualified experience and be a member of CIAT or other equivalent registration body.
- Expert in architectural software such as Revit, BIM 360, AutoCad SketchUp, and Adobe Suite.
- Strong understanding of BIM processes and tools.
- Strong understanding of current Building Planning Regulations and the application of these and similar variations internationally.
