A fast-growing broadband network provider based in the North West of England is rolling out ultra-fast, reliable, and future-proof full-fibre (FTTP) broadband, delivering gigabit speeds to homes and businesses. This well-established Alt-Net is seeking an experienced Senior Architect to lead the design, optimisation, and deployment of scalable IT infrastructure supporting its rapidly expanding full fibre network and digital platforms. This hands on architecture role blends technical leadership with direct involvement in system builds, infrastructure delivery, and cross functional collaboration. The position is responsible for defining and implementing end to end infrastructure strategies across cloud, on premises, networking, and security environments, ensuring a robust and future proof technology foundation for continued growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver secure, high-performing infrastructure solutions across both on-premises and cloud-based environments
  • Lead on architecture choices related to compute, storage, networking, backup, and monitoring technologies
  • Contribute to the hands-on build, configuration, and deployment of critical infrastructure systems
  • Act as the technical authority on major projects, ensuring architectural approaches align with broader business and technical objectives
  • Work collaboratively with solution architects, network and DevOps teams, as well as external vendors and integration partners
  • Establish and maintain architecture frameworks, design principles, and operational best practices
  • Lead initiatives to modernise infrastructure through cloud adoption and hybrid platform design, with a focus on Azure and AWS
  • Support the development of strategies that ensure high system availability, disaster recovery readiness, and security hardening
  • Assist with tooling decisions, technical documentation, and knowledge transfer to support seamless operational continuity
  • Assess technology offerings and contribute to vendor selection processes based on fit, performance, and long-term value

Requirements:

  • Virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure and/or AWS)
  • Networking fundamentals (firewalls, VLANs, VPNs)
  • Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Skilled in both Windows and Linux server environments
  • Exposure to fibre, telecoms, or ISP-related infrastructure
  • Understanding of OSS/BSS or carrier-grade systems
  • Familiarity with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines

  • South Manchester - 3x Days A Week

Salary:

  • £70,000 - £100,000 Per Annum
