To support this mission, we're looking for a Senior Advisor - Environment (Radiological Impact) to join our Safety & Regulatory Affairs directorate.If you meet around 75% of what's listed , we'd still love to hear from you. Why this role matters We need you to help build the radiological elements of our Environmental, Safety, Security and Safeguards (E3S) Case, supporting both our generic design assessment and site specific developments. You'll make sure radiological impacts are fully assessed, understood and optimised-contributing directly to the safe, responsible deployment of the Rolls Royce SMR. What you'll be doing You'll play a key part in shaping the radiological environmental approach for RR SMR. You'll: Produce radiological dose assessments and technical documentation for the E3S Case. Support the development of radiological impact chapters for GDA and future operator submissions. Complete discharge modelling (IRAT, ADMS, PC CREAM). Assess the radiological impacts of gaseous and liquid discharges. Act as a radiological environmental SME in internal reviews and external regulatory meetings. Respond to technical queries from internal stakeholders and regulators. Participate in optioneering and HAZOP workshops, ensuring environmental requirements are always captured. Work closely with reactor chemistry and radioactive waste teams to quantify discharges and ensure BAT is applied throughout design. What you'll bring We're looking for someone who brings experience, curiosity and collaboration. You'll ideally have: Experience working within the UK environmental regulatory framework, ideally on a licensed nuclear site. Strong experience assessing radiological environmental impacts and communicating findings to mixed audiences. Expertise in applying Best Available Techniques (BAT) in environmental decision making. Confidence working across multidisciplinary teams, including suppliers, to deliver "right first time" outcomes. Strong communication and relationship building skills, especially with regulators and internal stakeholders. The ability to manage stakeholder disagreements constructively and professionally. Qualifications & background You'll bring one of the following: A degree (or equivalent experience) in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry or a related discipline. Pay, benefits & rewards Salary: £50,650 - £66,500 Benefits allowance: £2,200 Bonus: 12.5% Holiday: 28 days + bank holidays Pension: Standard Rolls Royce SMR pension 12% Life Assurance: 6 pensionable salary Income Protection: 50% New joiner payment: £250 Working week: 37.5 hours, with flexible arrangements available Security & background checks This role requires BPSS clearance and is subject to export control restrictions.
