Job Description

This is a senior-level opportunity for an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in the supervision and delivery of major infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will bring strong technical and contractual expertise, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to oversee construction activities while ensuring compliance with project requirements.

Experience working in Ireland, particularly on projects delivered under the Public Works Contract, is essential.

The Role

As Senior Resident Engineer / Associate, you will take a leading role in the supervision, administration and delivery of civil and structural infrastructure works on site.

You will work closely with the Employer's Representative, Design Team, Client, Contractor and relevant Local Authorities to ensure that works are delivered in accordance with the Employer's Requirements, contractual obligations, quality standards and programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the supervision and administration of civil and structural construction works on site.
  • Ensure that the Contractor fulfils their contractual obligations and that construction works comply with the Employer's Requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Employer's Representative, Design Team, Client, Contractor and Local Authorities on technical and construction-related matters.
  • Monitor, measure, inspect and report on construction progress, quality and compliance.
  • Assist with and contribute to the administration of construction contracts, including technical and contractual matters.
  • Prepare and review regular site progress reports, with particular attention to quality, programme and project delivery.
  • Monitor compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 and other relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Review contractors' method statements and engineering proposals to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive site records, construction diaries and reports.
  • Identify potential issues, assess risks, establish facts and provide sound technical recommendations and solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams and contribute to the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects.
Requirements
  • A Level 8 qualification or equivalent in Civil Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years' post-graduate engineering experience.
  • Chartered Engineer status.
  • Extensive experience in resident engineering, construction supervision and the delivery of infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contract administration and site-based project delivery.
  • A good understanding of health and safety legislation and regulations applicable to construction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant IT systems and engineering applications.
  • A proactive, professional and solutions-focused approach.
  • Previous experience working on infrastructure projects in Ireland.
  • Experience working on projects utilising the Irish Public Works Contract.
  • Current Safe Pass and other relevant Safety in Construction qualifications.
