About Our School

Banks Lane Junior School is a fully subscribed, popular, and successful three-form entry junior school, judged as 'Good' in our latest Ofsted inspection (July 2024). We are incredibly proud of our wonderful school community, which boasts a highly talented staff team, well-behaved children, and an excellent, vibrant curriculum.

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and experienced SENDCo with a proven track record of inclusive practice and SEND leadership. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and SEND Team, you will play a vital role in ensuring every child with special educational needs or disabilities reaches their full potential.

The post is part time (3.5 days) and would suit someone who is looking for flexibility in their working hours. We are open to discuss a variety of options for working hours over a school week. Further hours may be available for the ideal candidate. The post will include a small amount of weekly teaching time.

The successful candidate will be an experienced SENDCo who:

• Inspires & Champions Inclusion: Motivates colleagues to deliver our strategic vision, ensuring every child receives high-quality, tailored support.
• Leads by Example: Brings strong expertise in SEND provision and confidently models adaptive, high-impact classroom practice.
• Raises Standards: Uses data, early identification, and robust monitoring to track progress, close learning gaps, and improve outcomes for vulnerable learners.
• Works Collaboratively with External Agencies: Demonstrates deep knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, managing statutory processes, EHCP applications, and multi-agency partnerships efficiently.
• Builds Positive Relationships with Parents: Is kind, open, empathetic and approachable.
• Empowers & Mentors: Delivers targeted CPD to support teachers and teaching assistants in delivering high-quality universal and targeted provision.
• Secures Safeguarding: Possesses an excellent understanding of safeguarding procedures and works proactively to keep all pupils safe and supported.
• Brings the Right Mindset: Is approachable, resilient, highly organised, empathetic, and thrives in a bustling, vibrant school environment.
