SEND Teaching Assistant

Full-Time Long-Term Temporary
Start Date: January 2026

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting a Year 2 pupil with additional needs, helping them to engage confidently with learning and make meaningful progress. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing dedicated one-to-one support for a Year 2 pupil with SEND

• Assisting the class teacher with the delivery of tailored learning activities

• Promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and confidence

• Adapting resources and approaches to meet individual learning needs

• Supporting the development of social interaction and communication skills

• Maintaining accurate records and contributing to ongoing support planning

• Upholding safeguarding procedures and ensuring pupil welfare at all times

• Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a primary school setting

• A strong understanding of inclusive strategies and individualised support

• The ability to build positive, trusting relationships and encourage independence

• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative team approach

• Patience, resilience, and a solution-focused mindset

• A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children
