Are you an experienced SEND Teacher with a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We are looking for a confident, resilient and engaging SEND Teacher to work with students aged 12-16 in a specialist education setting in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who thrives on building positive relationships and helping young people re-engage with education.
The RoleAs a SEND Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to students' individual needs and abilities.
- Support students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour and barriers to learning.
- Adapt teaching approaches to accommodate different learning styles and SEND needs.
- Establish clear routines, boundaries and expectations within the classroom.
- Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to create a safe learning environment.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, SEND professionals and pastoral staff.
- Support students academically, socially and emotionally, helping them develop confidence and independence.
- Follow individual EHCPs, behaviour plans and safeguarding procedures.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience teaching or supporting young people with SEMH and SEND needs.
- Has strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Is calm, patient and able to build trusting relationships with students aged 12-16.
- Can adapt lessons for students working at different academic levels.
- Understands trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches to behaviour.
- Is committed to safeguarding and improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
- Holds QTS/QTLS or a relevant teaching qualification.
- Has an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
