SEND support Assistant

We're working with a welcoming secondary school in South Tyneside that's looking for a SEND Support Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This is a brilliant opportunity to support students aged 11-16 who need a little extra guidance to thrive in the classroom.

What you'll be doing

You'll be right at the heart of the classroom, supporting pupils with special educational needs and helping them access learning with confidence.

Your day might include:

• Providing 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEND

• Helping students stay engaged, focused, and confident in lessons

• Supporting emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour

• Working closely with teachers and the SEN team to adapt learning where needed

• Creating a calm, encouraging environment where every pupil feels valued

This role would suit someone patient, compassionate, and confident in building positive relationships with young people.

What we're looking for

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND, in school or care settings

• A calm, positive approach and strong communication skills

• Someone who can build trust and support pupils' independence

• A team player who enjoys working closely with teaching staff

• Contract: Full-time, long-term

• Setting: Secondary school (ages 11-16)
