Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Secondary SEND School
Location: Charlton, Royal Borough of Greenwich
Pay: Competitive (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time, term-time only
Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant looking for your next rewarding role in SEND education?
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established Secondary SEND school in Charlton, Greenwich, seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to support students aged 11-19 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and complex medical needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and inclusive school where you can make a genuine difference to the lives of young people with additional needs.
The RoleAs a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Assist students in accessing a personalised curriculum.
- Promote independence, communication, and social development.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Support students with personal care and medical needs where required (training can be provided).
- Help create a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment.
Applicants must have:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within a school setting.
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) or Level 2 qualifications in both Maths and English.
Alternatively, applicants will also be considered if they have either:
- A recognised qualification or completed training in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) support, or
- A degree-level qualification.
- Are passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.
- Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Are patient, compassionate, and resilient.
- Can build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Are proactive, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality support.
