Pay Rate: £95 - 105

Start Date: ASAP

About the role:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistants to support children and young people with a range of SEND in specialist education settings in the Wigan area.

As a SEND LSA, roles may include 1:1 support, small group work, and support in the wider classroom setting for pupils with additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, moderate learning difficulties and speech and language needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about breaking barriers to learning for pupils and creating an inclusive and positive learning environment for all. The role is also open to those with transferable skills and experience of supporting young people in a similar setting, such as residential children's homes, support workers and carers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Implementing EHCP targets
  • Promote positive behaviour
  • Work closely with class teachers and other education professionals
  • Assist with general school duties as required
  • Adhere to school policies and procedures, including safeguarding

Essential requirements:

  • At least 5 GCSE (grade C/4 or above), including Maths and English
  • Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification or equivalent
  • Confident supporting young people with challenging behaviour and/or reluctant learners
  • Ability to engage pupils with SEND
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude
  • Enhanced DBS or willing to obtain one
