Job Title: SEND Lawyer

Pay rate: £43.12 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 30 hours

Working Arrangement: This role can be 100% remote.

The exact working days and hours can be discussed and agreed upon during the interview process. Ideally, candidates willing to work on at least one of the more challenging days, such as Monday or Friday, are preferred.

Additional requirements: Full clean UK driving licence

The role:

We are seeking an experienced SEND lawyer to provide high-quality legal services and advice in SEND law, covering 30 hours per week. The role involves developing and delivering training, providing advice bulletins and guidance notes, and identifying income opportunities for the service's future.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality legal services for SEND law
• Undertake advocacy and represent the Council in court
• Represent Legal Services, the Council, and external clients in meetings, inquiries, and working groups
• Contribute to the development and delivery of legal services
• Offer innovative, creative advice in pressurised environments

What the client is looking for:

• Qualified barrister, solicitor, or Chartered Legal Executive
• Membership of the relevant professional body
• Experience in advocacy and contested hearings in court
• Experience working in local government
• Knowledge of English law and practice related to SEND law
• Ability to acquire and maintain SEND law knowledge
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong research and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships
• Ability to share knowledge and develop colleagues
• Good IT skills, including case management systems
• Highly developed negotiating and listening skills
