Job TitleSEND Casework Officer
Responsibilities- Carry out the statutory assessment and EHC plan review process, ensuring children and young people with SEND are placed and supported suitably in line with relevant legislation.
- Manage a caseload of children and young people under assessment for EHC plans and a cohort with existing EHC plans.
- Act as the first point of contact for families, providing excellent customer service and maintaining positive, effective relationships with families and professionals.
- Work in partnership with other agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people, working as part of multi agency teams.
- Work independently on a specified caseload, meeting statutory timescales and deadlines, and use IT (Microsoft Office Suite) effectively.
- Apply mediation and negotiation skills to support families and manage legal challenges under pressure.
- Use in depth knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and SENDIST regulations to support cases.
- Extensive experience of casework, including supporting families and managing legal challenges.
- Working experience and in depth knowledge of all aspects of the Children and Families Act 2014 and associated legislation, including SENDIST regulations.
- At least 27 days holiday, plus bank holidays; rising to 32 days after 5 years of service (pro rata if part time); option to purchase further days.
