Job Description
SEND Case Officer (Lancashire) - Part Time (18.5 Hours) - HybridLancashire County Council is seeking an experienced SEND Case Officer to join its SEND Service on a part-time basis (18.5 hours per week). This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND professional to manage a statutory caseload, draft high-quality Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and work collaboratively with families, schools, and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).The successful candidate will be responsible for writing EHCPs, managing a caseload, navigating the Education Health Module (EHM), and ensuring statutory processes are completed in line with SEND legislation. The role is 18.5 hours per week, split across 3 working days, with attendance in the office every Tuesday required.Main Duties:
  • Manage a caseload of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Draft, amend, and maintain high-quality, legally compliant Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Navigate and utilise the Education Health Module (EHM) effectively to manage statutory processes
  • Coordinate Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments where required
  • Coordinate annual reviews and ensure statutory timescales are met
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools, educational settings, and multidisciplinary professionals
  • Provide advice and guidance regarding SEND processes and statutory responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate case records and statutory documentation
  • Prepare reports and case summaries to a high standard
  • Work within the SEND Code of Practice and Children and Families Act 2014
  • Support positive outcomes for children and young people through effective case management
Requirements:
  • Experience working as a SEND Case Officer, SEN Case Officer, EHCP Coordinator, EHC Caseworker, or within a similar statutory SEND role
  • Extensive experience writing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Experience managing a statutory SEND caseload
  • Experience using the Education Health Module (EHM)
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, the Children and Families Act 2014, and associated SEND legislation
  • Excellent written communication and report writing skills
  • Ability to manage statutory timescales and competing priorities
  • Experience working collaboratively with families, schools, educational settings, and partner agencies
  • Ability to work independently within a fast-paced SEND service
