Job Description

Job Title: Experienced Support Staff for SEN school in Hillingdon

Location: West Drayton, Hillingdon

Position Type: Full-time roles and daily cover

Working Hours: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm

Empowering Learning is seeking experienced Support Staff to join our team at Pupil Referral Units (PRU) in Slough, London. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and extreme behaviour challenges.

Role Description:

- As a Support Staff member, you will work closely with pupils with SEND, particularly those with conditions such as ADHD, SEMH, ASD, and complex needs.

- The role involves providing support to pupils in a PRU environment, where empathy, understanding, and effective behaviour management are essential.

- You will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all pupils while fostering a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide one-to-one and group support to pupils with SEND and challenging behaviour.

- Implement behaviour management strategies effectively to support pupils in managing their emotions and behaviours.

- Collaborate with the teaching staff to deliver individualized learning plans and interventions.

- Foster positive relationships with pupils, promoting their social and emotional development.

- Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.

Requirements:

- Previous experience working with SEND is highly desirable but not essential. School-based experience is not mandatory. Experience as a Youth Mentor, Youth Support Worker, Alternative Provisions/Pupil Referral Unit, Behaviour Mentor, or in similar roles is acceptable.

- Excellent understanding of safeguarding procedures and the ability to empathize with the trauma faced by vulnerable young people.

- Experience working with challenging teenagers, ideally in a school setting.

- Desirable: Experience with SEN and Team Teach training.
