Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £93 - £105 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

Connex Education is recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Support Teaching Assistants to work within a sen school in Chesterfield

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and helping them overcome barriers to learning. Opportunities are available across day-to-day supply, short-term placements and longer-term roles, providing flexibility to suit your experience and availability.

As an SEN Support Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and other school staff to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs. This may include supporting children with communication difficulties, autism, ADHD, social and emotional needs, learning difficulties and other SEND requirements.

You will play an important role in helping pupils build confidence, develop independence and access their education in a positive and inclusive environment.

The school

The Sen school we work with is part of a multi academy trust and are aged from reception to age 14, theirpupils have a wide range of cognitive and physical abilities, requiring specialist support to meet their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN throughout the school day
  • Support children with a range of learning and additional needs
  • Assist teachers with delivering engaging and accessible learning activities
  • Support pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour
  • Adapt your approach to suit individual pupils and their specific needs
  • Support pupils to work towards their individual targets and EHCP outcomes where applicable
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs and other professionals
  • Assist with personal care where required, following appropriate training and school guidance
  • Promote a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment
What We're Looking For
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable but not essential
  • Experience in schools, childcare, youth work, care or support work is advantageous
  • A patient, caring and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Confidence in adapting your approach to meet individual needs
  • A willingness to learn and develop your SEN knowledge and skills
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Connex Education
  • Right to work in the UK
