About the Role

At Barton School, every lesson has the power to change a life. As an SEN Teacher, you'll support students with additional needs to overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve outcomes they never thought possible.

This is more than a teaching role. It's an opportunity to be part of a specialist setting where relationships come first, small class sizes allow for truly personalised learning, and every student is known, valued and supported to succeed.

Working alongside a skilled and passionate multidisciplinary team, you'll create engaging learning experiences that help students thrive academically, socially and emotionally. You'll have the freedom to adapt your teaching, celebrate every achievement and make a genuine difference every single day.

Whether you're an experienced SEN Teacher or a qualified teacher looking to bring your skills into specialist education, you'll join a supportive school community that values collaboration, creativity and professional growth.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver engaging, personalised lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Support students to make meaningful progress both academically and personally.
  • Develop and review individual learning plans and contribute to student targets and outcomes.
  • Foster positive behaviour, confidence and emotional wellbeing through strong relationships.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, families and other professionals to provide holistic support.
  • Monitor progress, celebrate achievements and adapt teaching strategies to maximise success.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every student can flourish.
  • Champion safeguarding and ensure the wellbeing of all students remains at the heart of your practice.

What We're Looking For

  • QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification required
  • Has experience working with children and young people with SEN, SEMH, autism or complex needs, or is keen to move into specialist education.
  • Is passionate about inclusive teaching and helping every student achieve their potential.
  • Builds positive, trusting relationships with students, families and colleagues.
  • Is adaptable, resilient and creative in their approach to teaching and learning.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively and is committed to continuous professional development.
