Are you a passionate and dedicated teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs?

We are recruiting for an exciting opportunity at a brand-new specialist SEN school opening in Barnsley this September. The school will provide a nurturing, highly personalised learning environment for primary-aged pupils whose primary needs are ASD and Communication & Interaction difficulties.

This is a unique chance to join a new school from the very beginning, helping to establish a positive culture and shape an outstanding provision that enables every child to thrive.

The Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Support pupils with ASD and Communication & Interaction needs to achieve their full potential.
  • Create a structured, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists, families, and external professionals.
  • Develop personalised learning programmes and contribute to EHCP targets and reviews.
  • Promote pupils' social, emotional, communication, and independence skills alongside academic progress.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for teachers who:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have experience teaching pupils with SEN, particularly ASD and Communication & Interaction needs.
  • Have a strong understanding of personalised learning approaches and adaptive teaching strategies.
  • Are patient, resilient, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for every child.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
  • Have experience within an SEN school or specialist provision (desirable but not essential).
What the School Offers
  • The opportunity to join a brand-new specialist school from its opening.
  • Small class sizes and a child-centred approach to learning.
  • A supportive leadership team committed to staff development.
  • Access to high-quality training and ongoing CPD.
  • The chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of children with additional needs.
  • A culture built around inclusion, personalised support, and helping every pupil achieve success.

Whether you're an experienced SEN Teacher or a mainstream teacher with a passion for supporting pupils with additional needs, this is an excellent opportunity to join an exciting new provision and be part of something special from day one.
