A Word from our Headteacher
'Teach where it counts. At Willow Park School, Milton Keynes, you'll help young people with SEMH needs rediscover what they're capable of. Smaller classes, proper support, and trauma informed training that helps you grow as a teacher where it really matters - This is the job you got into teaching to do.'
About the Role
At Willow Park School, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive. We support pupils aged 9-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated SEND, many of whom have faced significant challenges in their education journey. Through a trauma-informed, relational and multidisciplinary approach, we help pupils rebuild confidence, develop resilience and rediscover a love of learning.
We are looking for an inspiring Humanities Teacher to deliver History, Geography and Religious Studies across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is more than a teaching role - it is an opportunity to spark curiosity, broaden horizons and help young people understand the world around them. You will play a key part in empowering pupils to overcome barriers, achieve success and realise their potential.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver engaging and inclusive Humanities lessons tailored to individual needs and EHCP outcomes.
- Create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment where pupils can thrive.
- Use trauma-informed and relational approaches to promote engagement, wellbeing and positive behaviour.
- Monitor, assess and track progress, using data to inform teaching and celebrate achievement.
- Develop pupils' literacy, communication and critical thinking skills across the Humanities curriculum.
- Prepare pupils for examinations and accredited qualifications at Key Stage 4.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants, the SENCo, clinical colleagues and the wider Inclusion Team.
- Build positive relationships with parents, carers and external professionals.
- Contribute to curriculum development and whole-school improvement initiatives.
- Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and professional practice.
What You Will Bring
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Strong subject knowledge across Humanities disciplines.
- The ability to deliver ambitious, engaging and well-structured lessons.
- High expectations for all pupils, balanced with empathy, patience and understanding.
- A commitment to trauma-informed practice and inclusive education.
- A genuine belief that every young person can succeed, regardless of their starting point.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding, professional integrity and continuous development.
Experience working with pupils with SEMH and SEND would be advantageous, but most importantly, we are seeking a resilient, reflective and passionate teacher who is committed to making a lasting difference. If you are motivated by the opportunity to transform lives through education and help young people build brighter futures, we would love to hear from you.
