SEN Teacher - KS2 Specialist Class

This is a specialist Key Stage 2 class for pupils aged 7-11 with communication needs, SEMH and moderate learning difficulties.

They are looking for a teacher who:

• Is highly structured and organised
• Can break learning into small, achievable steps
• Understands behaviour as communication
• Leads with calm authority rather than volume
• Confidently manages a team of support staff

Consistency is more important than flair here.

Class Structure

• Maximum 10 pupils
• Mixed Year 4-6
• All pupils have EHCPs
• Wide range of reading ages

There is a strong literacy focus across all subjects.

Daily Routine

• Morning regulation and visual timetable review
• Phonics and reading intervention
• Concrete and visual maths
• Structured movement breaks
• End-of-day reflection

Pupils leave at 2:30pm. Staff remain until 4:30pm for planning, EHCP tracking and collaboration.

Behaviour & Environment

• Calm corridors
• High staff to pupil ratio
• Clear restorative processes
• De escalation before consequence

Experience & Pay Scale

Qualified Teacher Status is required.

Experience in specialist or SEN settings is desirable but not essential for the right candidate. Strong mainstream teachers with the right mindset will be supported.

Salary is in line with teacher pay scale, with flexibility for experience.
