SEN Education and Engagement Specialist
Posted 1 hour ago by Fresh Start In Education Ltd
Department: Recruitment - South
Employment Type: Contract
Location: Camberley, Surrey
Compensation: £25.00 - £35.00 / hour
DescriptionBe more than an educator
Be the reason a young person believes in a brighter future
For young people with SEN and SEMH needs, attending school can feel impossible. Too many people, too many challenges and too little support can leave them unwilling or unable to attend.
At Fresh Start in Education, we're looking for experienced, proactive, person centred people to plan and deliver fun, personalised learning sessions on a 1:1 basis with young people with SEN or SEMH needs in Surrey and Hampshire. Whether it's using cooking to explore Maths, unlocking their imagination through gaming and art, or learning about Science in the garden, you'll spark curiosity, confidence and a sense of hope, enabling students to rediscover the joy of learning in a way that works for them. One learner, one relationship, one small step at a time.
With allowances for travel and resources and full support from our dedicated team, this flexible role gives you the freedom to deliver learning in the ways that you feel best meet the student's needs and interests. If you have the experience, resilience and commitment to transform lives, we would love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing:- Working 1:1 or 2:1 with children and young people in their homes or other settings in the Surrey and Hampshire areas
- Planning and delivering personalised, creative, educational sessions that reflect each learner's needs, interests and abilities, particularly in Maths and English
- Running sessions during the school day (term time only) that typically last 3 to 5 hours
- Monitoring and reporting on student progress after each session and setting clear, achievable targets to support ongoing development
- Conducting risk assessments and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed
- Engaging with students who may have ASD, ADHD, SEMH needs, GDD or complex needs and helping them achieve outcomes at their pace
- Working flexibly as part of a compassionate, expert-led team that values you and your skills
We welcome applications from people who have:
- Experience (at least 1 year) as teachers, tutors, teaching assistants, SEN specialists and education professionals who have directly supported young people with SEN/SEMH needs
- A background in Primary, Secondary, Functional Skills or Post 16 teaching, or specialist SEND environments
- De escalation and behaviour management skills
- A minimum of 2 consistent weekdays available
- An up to date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
- £25-£35 per hour, depending on experience
- Travel subsidy and £15 per session resource allowance
- Free access to counselling and wellbeing services, pension options and store discounts
- Dedicated line manager, support and inclusion in a supportive, expert team
- Bank staff role (PAYE), offering both short-term and long-term placements
