Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for a confident, reliable and resilient Cover Supervisor to join a specialist secondary school in Milton Keynes from September 2026. The school supports secondary-aged students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The setting provides a structured and supportive environment where positive relationships, consistency and individualised support are key to helping students engage with education.
The RoleAs a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes across a range of subjects, ensuring students remain engaged and supported when their usual teacher is unavailable. You will be provided with lesson plans and resources, with your role focused on maintaining a positive learning environment and supporting students to complete their work.
Responsibilities- Supervising secondary-aged classes across different subjects.
- Delivering pre-prepared lesson work and supporting students with their learning.
- Managing behaviour calmly and consistently.
- Building positive relationships with students.
- Supporting students with SEN and SEMH needs.
- Working closely with teachers and support staff.
- Following school routines, policies and individual support strategies.
- Helping to maintain a safe, structured and positive classroom environment.
The school is looking for someone who is patient, approachable and confident when working with young people. Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor or within an SEN/SEMH setting would be beneficial, but is not essential.
Requirements- Experience working with secondary-aged students.
- Confidence managing a classroom independently.
- A calm and consistent approach to behaviour.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- A genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs.
You will have a dedicated consultant, Alana, supporting you throughout your placement, alongside access to 2,500+ free CPD courses through the National College and ongoing opportunities across SEN, SEMH and AP settings.
