Job Description

Primary Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant (SEN) - Sutton

Location: Sutton (Cheam, Carshalton, Wallington, Hackbridge)
Position: Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant / SEN TA
Contract: Full-time
Salary: £85 - £95 per day

Role

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to support a range of mainstream primary schools across Sutton.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work with pupils from Early Years through to Key Stage 2, supporting their academic, social, and emotional development. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and delivery of engaging, age-appropriate learning activities

  • Assist in developing pupils' social, emotional, and cognitive skills

  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment

  • Observe and assess pupil progress, maintaining accurate records

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and school staff

  • Ensure adherence to health & safety and safeguarding procedures

  • Support with classroom organisation and preparation of learning materials

Requirements

  • A relevant qualification (e.g. Drama, Dance, Psychology, English, Sports Science, or similar)

  • Previous experience working with children in a school, after-school club, or youth setting

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • A patient, caring, and enthusiastic approach

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
