SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)

Location: Croydon, South London
Pay: £92.63 - £100 per day
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: ASAP

SEMH Teaching Assistant Opportunity in Croydon

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are looking for a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in the Croydon area.

This rewarding role involves working closely with pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Support pupils in managing their emotions and behaviour within the classroom.
  • Encourage engagement in learning and promote positive outcomes.
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored lessons and interventions.
  • Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and other support staff.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or challenging behaviour is desirable.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
