Job Description

Passionate about making a difference in young people's lives?

Protocol Education is seeking SEMH Teaching Assistants to support pupils in South Bristol who need guidance, structure, and encouragement. If you are a criminology, sociology or psychology student, this may be a perfect role for you.

In this role, you will:

  • Support students with behavioural and emotional needs within the classroom
  • Assist with lessons and alternative learning activities
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement
  • Work as part of a dedicated support team
  • Gain insight into behaviour, safeguarding, and intervention

Why Protocol?

Pick your pace

Want flexibility? Choose daily roles and build a week that works for you. No long-term pressure, just great schools and friendly faces.

Want consistency? Step into a long term role where you can really get to know the pupils, support their progress, and feel part of the team.

What your day might look like
  • Supporting a small group with their learning
  • Helping a pupil stay focused and confident
  • Jumping in during lessons to keep things running smoothly
  • Sharing a quiet "you've got this" moment when it's needed most

It's the little things that make the biggest difference.

What schools are hoping for
  • Someone calm, kind, and ready to get involved
  • Experience working with children (school or similar setting)
  • A team player who can adapt and think on their feet
  • A positive attitude, even on those slightly chaotic days
What you'll get in return
  • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies
  • Access to free CPD to keep growing your skills
  • A consultant who knows your name, not just your availability
  • Schools that value what you bring to the classroom
  • Flexible work that actually fits around your life

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience relevant to careers in youth justice, social work, or education.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance 'Keeping Children Safe in Education'. This may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.

We offer free online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.

Full assistance provided. For details of our privacy policy, please see the Protocol Education website.
