About Space To BeeSpace To Bee is a growing Alternative Provision supporting children and young people who may be struggling to engage successfully within mainstream education.
Due to continued growth and increasing demand from schools, we are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and committed Self-Employed Emotional Development Coaches to join our team across Rossendale, Bury, Bolton and Rochdale.
Our coaches work directly with children and young people on a 1:1 and small-group basis, using positive relationships, mentoring, physical activity and interest-led experiences to improve emotional wellbeing, confidence, resilience and engagement with education.
The RoleAs an Emotional Development Coach, you will plan and deliver engaging sessions tailored to the individual needs and interests of the young people you support.
Sessions may include:- Sport and physical activity
- Mentoring and emotional development
- Wellbeing and confidence-building activities
- Creative activities
- Practical and interest-led experiences
- Activities within the local community
You will be encouraged to use your own skills, experience and interests to create purposeful sessions that engage and motivate young people.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will be expected to:
- Deliver high-quality 1:1 and small-group Alternative Provision sessions.
- Build safe, positive and professional relationships with children and young people.
- Support emotional regulation, resilience, confidence and self-esteem.
- Recognise behaviour as communication and respond calmly and appropriately.
- Use sport, physical activity, creative activities and individual interests to encourage engagement.
- Incorporate mentoring and emotional-management strategies into sessions.
- Support young people to identify triggers and develop practical strategies they can use independently.
- Plan purposeful sessions around individual needs and agreed outcomes.
- Maintain accurate session records and evidence progress.
- Communicate professionally with schools, parents/carers and the Space To Bee team.
- Follow Space To Bee safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and GDPR procedures.
- Report safeguarding concerns and incidents promptly and appropriately.
We are looking for people who are:

- Confident in building relationships with young people who may find traditional education challenging.
- Calm, patient, resilient and adaptable.
- Creative and able to think outside the box when planning activities.
- Reliable, professional and able to work independently.
- Able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
- Confident communicating with young people, families, schools and other professionals.
- Experience within education, youth work, mentoring, coaching, sport, SEND, Alternative Provision or pastoral support would be beneficial.
- We are also interested in candidates who can bring additional skills, hobbies or interests that could be used to engage young people.

Successful applicants will be required to meet our safer recruitment and safeguarding requirements, including an appropriate Enhanced DBS check.
Applicants should be willing to undertake relevant safeguarding and training requirements associated with the role.
Self-Employed PositionThis opportunity is offered on a self-employed/subcontractor basis.
Coaches are responsible for managing their own tax and National Insurance obligations and for meeting the requirements associated with working on a self-employed basis.
Work is offered according to referrals, operational requirements, geographical area and coach availability and therefore hours are not guaranteed.
