Job Description

As part of our team, you will contribute to the successful delivery of key transport projects that shape the future of Cardiff's transport network and improve outcomes for our residents, businesses, and visitors.

About the job

The post holder will be responsible for managing key projects within the Council's Transport White Paper and wider Transport Programme. In particular, they will:

  • Lead the end to end delivery of transport projects of varying scale and complexity. These may include Cycleways, Bus Priority Schemes, City Centre Transport Improvements, Cycle Parking Initiatives, Traffic Modelling Projects, and a range of Transport Support orabling Projects, using a range of assessment tools such as WelTAG, Traffic Modelling, internal workshops and stakeholder liaison. .
  • Ensure that all projects are effectively planned, managed, monitored, and reported, in accordance with the requirements of the Transportation Programme Team.
  • Coordinate input from multi disciplinary teams to ensure successful and timely project delivery.
  • Deliver projects in alignment with strategic priorities, including the Council's Strategic Vision, the Directorate's Corporate Plan, and best practice guidance such as Active Travel Guidance, Design Standards, and wider Transport Policy objectives.
  • Contribute to the development and future planning of the Programme, including Policy development and Active Travel Network enhancements.
What We Are Looking For From You

We are seeking a motivated and organised individual to support the delivery of key transport projects within the Council's Transport White Paper and wider Transport Programme. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys working with a wide range of stakeholders, and is committed to improving transport outcomes for our communities. KeyResponsibilities will include:

  • Manage projects using appropriate planning, assessment, monitoring, and reporting tools.
  • Contribute to funding bids and business case development.
  • Act as the Client under CDM Regulations.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement and consultation activities.
  • Prepare procurement plans and coordinate procurement and contract management.
  • Check and approve contractor and external consultant valuations and proposals.
  • Benchmark project delivery against standards.
  • Monitor, control, and report project expenditure.
  • Provide written contributions to reports, policies, and business plans.
  • Feed into design and traffic modelling development, including attending or carrying out site visits.
