We're partnering with secondary schools across Middlesbrough who are seeking dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistants to support students with a wide range of additional needs. These roles are ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
If you have experience supporting students with SEN, particularly those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, we'd love to hear from you.
What's the role?You'll work closely with secondary-aged students, providing tailored support that helps them engage with learning, develop confidence, and succeed both academically and personally.
No two days are the same, but responsibilities may include:
- Supporting students with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, learning difficulties, and other additional needs
- Working on a 1:1 basis or with small intervention groups
- Building positive relationships and helping students regulate emotions and behaviour
- Supporting attendance, engagement, and participation in lessons
- Implementing strategies to manage challenging behaviours positively and consistently
- Creating a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and SENCOs to support student progress

What you'll need- Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs
- Strong experience supporting students with varying needs, including SEMH
- Confidence supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, behavioural needs, and learning difficulties
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- The ability to build strong relationships and establish clear boundaries
- Experience within education, youth work, care, support work, or similar settings
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
- References available for compliance checks

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
