Salary: £31,650-£51,048 per annum / PAYE, dependent on experience and qualifications
Protocol Education are recruiting for a dedicated Secondary SEN Teacher to join a specialist education setting in Sunderland from September.
This role is ideal for a teacher who wants to combine academic teaching with personal development, pastoral support and preparation for life beyond school.
You'll support secondary-aged pupils to develop both academically and personally, helping them build the skills, confidence and independence they need for their future.
What You'll Be Doing- Planning and delivering engaging secondary lessons.
- Differentiating the curriculum according to individual needs.
- Supporting pupils working towards recognised qualifications where appropriate.
- Developing literacy and numeracy skills.
- Promoting communication and social development.
- Supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.
- Managing classroom behaviour positively and consistently.
- Developing strong relationships with pupils.
- Encouraging independence and responsibility.
- Setting appropriate learning and personal development targets.
- Monitoring and recording progress.
- Contributing towards EHCP outcomes.
- Working closely with Teaching Assistants.
- Liaising with SENCOs, pastoral staff and external professionals.
- Preparing pupils for further education, employment or adult life.
We're looking for a teacher who:
- Holds QTS or an appropriate teaching qualification.
- Has experience working with secondary-aged pupils.
- Has a strong understanding of SEND.
- Can differentiate effectively.
- Has excellent behaviour management skills.
- Is confident working with pupils who may have challenging behaviour.
- Builds positive relationships quickly.
- Has high expectations while understanding individual barriers.
- Is passionate about helping young people achieve their potential.
Experience within secondary SEND, SEMH, PRU, alternative provision or specialist education would be advantageous.
