Job Description

Job Title: Secondary English Teacher

Location: Gateshead

Salary: £150 - £220 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Full-time Part-time Long-term

GSL Education are seeking a qualified Secondary English Teacher to work in schools across Gateshead. This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver high-quality English education and support students in achieving strong academic outcomes.

About the Role:

As a Secondary English Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5), helping students develop their reading, writing, and analytical skills. You will play a key role in promoting a love of literature and language while supporting pupils to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the curriculum
  • Teach a range of texts, including literature and language components
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback
  • Support students of varying abilities, adapting teaching strategies where required
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with departmental staff and wider school teams
  • Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level
  • Strong subject knowledge and curriculum understanding
  • Confident classroom management and communication skills
  • Flexible, reliable, and committed to student success
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
