Second Line Engineer

We're looking for a skilled Second Line Engineer with strong cabling experience to join our growing technical team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving, working on-site, and taking ownership of technical issues from start to finish. This will be a contract ad-hoc, contract role.

Key Responsibilities for the Second Line Engineer:

• Providing second line support for network, hardware, and connectivity issues

• Installing, terminating, and testing structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/Fibre)

• Diagnosing and resolving escalated technical faults

• Supporting first line engineers and acting as a point of escalation

• Carrying out site visits, installations, and upgrades

• Maintaining clear documentation and updating tickets accurately

• Working closely with clients to deliver reliable, high-quality service

Essential Skills & Experience for the Second Line Engineer:

• Proven experience in a second line support role

• Strong cabling background (installation, patching, testing, fault-finding)

• Good understanding of networks (LAN/WAN, Switches, Routers, Wi-Fi)

• Experience with Windows desktop and server environments

• Confident communicator with a customer-focused mindset

• Full UK driving licence (if role requires site work)

Desirable:

• Relevant certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, etc.)

• Experience in MSP or fast-paced IT environments

• Knowledge of VoIP or CCTV systems
