Job Description

Second Line Assurance Manager

My client, a global bank based in London, is looking for a contract Second Line Assurance Manager.

6 month contract, paying up to £650 per day. Hybrid working, 2 days a month in the London office.

Key skills:

  • Experience of working Assurance or Risk functions, or other relevant teams within 1LoD/2LoD.
  • Assurance/auditing background can be retail or commercial background
  • Good understanding of risks and issues, and strong controls.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Records management
  • Conversant with relevant regional laws, regulations and overall regulatory environment and assurance/audit methodology/practices - desirable

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-quality Second Line Assurance Reviews in line with global principles and standards, meeting agreed deadlines.
  • Plan, lead, and complete reviews, providing assurance on risk identification and control effectiveness.
  • Produce accurate review records with minimal quality control issues and address any errors promptly.
  • Clearly communicate findings and recommendations, adapting style for different stakeholders.
  • Escalate significant control failings to senior management promptly.
  • Collaborate with Risk functions, First Line of Defence, and Internal Audit teams.
  • Identify process improvements and efficiency opportunities.
  • Represent Second Line Assurance in projects, providing insight on emerging risks and trends.
  • Support senior management with committee reports and management information.
