SCIENTIST ASSISTANT COMPOUND MANAGEMENT - part time 50%

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Scientist Compound Management to join our dynamic research team in Leuven. The candidate will play a key role in supporting daily research operations, with primary responsibility for the management and maintenance of our compound library. This includes overseeing the inventory, ensuring proper storage of chemical compounds, and coordinating and handling of compound requests from both internal and external scientists. The assistant will occasionally also support the team with other general laboratory operations and maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the receipt, organization, and storage of chemical compounds within the compound inventory, in compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory standards.

• Perform high precision weighing, labelling, sorting, dissolving, storage of chemical compounds to ensure accurate handling and traceability.

• Maintain an up-to-date accurate inventory through registration of compound usage and availability.

• Coordinate and fulfill compound requests from scientists ensuring timely and efficient distribution to support internal and external drug discovery activities.

• Ensure a compliant labeling and storage of newly delivered reagents in accordance with laboratory protocols.

• Support laboratory teams with general lab operations and maintenance tasks.

• Support the procurement team to ensure optimal supply chain management

Your profile :

• Willing to work onsite daily on a part-time (half-day) basis.

• Educational degree or background : ideally, a professional bachelor's degree or secondary school degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Lab Technician, Lab technology, biotechnology or analogues )

• A background in lab technology, biotechnology, biotechnics, (bio)chemistry, or a related field is an asset. Also, experience in compound management, laboratory support, or inventory control is a plus.

• Experience with Windows and Microsoft office environment .

• Demonstrated organizational skills with a keen eye for details

• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

• Fluent in English (oral and written); (Dutch and/or French are considered as assets).
