The Vacancy

Reporting to the Controlled Drugs (CD) Assessor, the role of Scientific Officer involves assisting the operation of the CD team within the Medicine Shortages and Borderline Classification (MSBC) section, particularly concerning CD and precursor chemicals.

The role focuses on supporting the CD team in its regulatory functions for CD and precursor chemicals, achieving performance targets, and responding effectively to internal and external changes. It also includes assisting with other activities of the section based on business needs.

The Scientific Officer conducts technical and scientific evaluations related to applications for CD and precursor chemical licences and registrations, in accordance with national, EU legislation, and UN Conventions on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances. Responsibilities include compiling reports and providing information to support regulation of these chemicals.

Additionally, the Scientific Officer may support broader activities within the MSBC section, including assisting CD/GDP Inspectors and the Licensing section of the Compliance department.
