Science Technician - Part-Time

Location: Independent School - DacourmContract: Part-time, Term-time only (Until the end of the academic year)Hours:

• Monday and Friday: 8:15am - 4:45pm
• Thursday: 1:00pm - 4:45pm

Academics are supporting a leading independent school in Dacorum in their search for a dedicated and organised Science Technician to join their busy Science Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong practical skills, a passion for science, and the ability to support high-quality teaching and learning.

The Role

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, ensuring the smooth running of practical lessons by:

• Preparing, setting up, and clearing away equipment and materials for practical sessions
• Maintaining laboratories and prep rooms to a high standard
• Ensuring equipment is stored correctly and safely
• Supporting teachers with demonstrations and lesson preparation
• Managing stock levels and assisting with ordering of resources
• Ensuring compliance with health & safety procedures (CLEAPSS guidance, COSHH, etc.)

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working in a laboratory or school science environment (desirable)
• Demonstrates strong organisational and communication skills
• Can work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Has good scientific knowledge across all three disciplines
• Understands the importance of maintaining safe working environments
• Is reliable, proactive, and confident handling scientific equipment
