Job Description

Service Care Solutions is currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in London for a Schools Accountant to join the team on a temporary basis. The Schools Accountant will support a range of schools based on the individual support purchased. The role is focused purely on financial responsibilities, distinct from typical SBM duties.

Main Responsibilities

1. Transactional support - payments, month-end reconciliation, VAT submission
2. Strategic support - analysis of budgets and expenditure, including reporting to Governing Bodies and headteachers
3. Supporting schools in developing Deficit Recovery Plans
4. Implementing new finance systems and providing related training

Candidate Criteria

• CCAB/CIMA Qualified or Part-Qualified preferred
• Strong knowledge of Schools Funding and ability to engage with Heads and Governors
• Experience in Schools Accounting within a Local Authority is highly desirable
• Awareness of national policies affecting school funding
• Excellent communication skills; able to work independently and as part of a team
