Job Description
We are working with a school in Chelsea who are seeking a friendly, organised and professional Receptionist to support the front office function. This role is the first point of contact for visitors, parents, pupils and staff, and plays a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school's administrative operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as the first point of contact at the school reception, welcoming visitors and managing sign-in procedures
- Answering and directing telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner
- Managing general email inboxes and responding to routine enquiries
- Supporting attendance administration, including recording late arrivals and absences
- Maintaining accurate pupil, staff and visitor records
- Liaising with parents, staff and external stakeholders as required
- Handling incoming and outgoing post and deliveries
- Providing general administrative support to the school office team
- Assisting with diary management, room bookings and meeting arrangements
- Ensuring safeguarding and health & safety procedures are followed at all times
Person Specification
- Previous experience in an administrative or receptionist role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Professional, calm and approachable manner
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment
- Previous experience working in a school or educational setting
- Knowledge of school management systems (e.g. SIMS, Arbor or similar)
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures
- This role is subject to safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidelines.
Location: Chelsea, London
Hours: Full time, on-site
Pay Rate: £17 per hour
Contract: 4-8 week temporary contact
