Milk Education is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and well-respected school seeking a reliable, proactive, and hardworking School Caretaker to join their site team.

This role will initially begin on a supply basis through Milk Education, allowing both the candidate and school to ensure the role is the right fit. However, the school is looking for someone long-term and intends to quickly move the successful candidate onto a permanent contract directly with the school following a successful initial period.

The Role

As a School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the school site is safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Opening and locking the school premises daily
• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
• Ensuring the school grounds are clean, tidy, and safe
• Conducting health & safety checks around the site
• Assisting with deliveries, furniture moving, and room setups
• Monitoring heating, lighting, and alarm systems
• Liaising with contractors and reporting maintenance issues
• Supporting the school during events and emergencies where required
• Maintaining high standards of site security and cleanliness at all times

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have previous caretaking, maintenance, facilities, or site management experience
• Be practical, organized, and able to work independently
• Have good knowledge of health & safety procedures
• Be dependable, trustworthy, and proactiveBe comfortable working in a school environment
• Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service (or be willing to obtain one)
