Job Description

On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Data Analyst (Inside IR35) for a 6 Month contract predominantly Remote, with occasional need to attend the office based in Bristol as and when required.

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.

As a Data Analyst, your main responsibilities will be:
. Design and implement robust methodologies for data collection and analysis against agreed performance metrics for SME landscape health, organisational effectiveness, and SME spend, aligned to Defence Office goals
. Select, develop, and deploy appropriate data collection tools, surveys, dashboards, and analytical systems to enable continuous and reliable monitoring
. Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners to understand data requirements and ensure alignment with Defence Office objectives
. Establish data governance processes to maintain accuracy, security, and compliance with MOD and government standards
. Collect, clean, and validate quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources, ensuring quality and consistency
. Analyse and interpret data to deliver actionable insights, identify trends, challenges, and opportunities within the SME defence supply chain
. Develop regular and ad hoc reports, presentations, and visualisations to communicate findings to leadership and stakeholders.

Essential Criteria:
. Experience with data collection, cleaning, validation, and analysis in complex organisations.
. Ability to design and implement robust measurement methodologies and select appropriate data collection tools
. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis software.
. Knowledge of data governance, privacy, and security standards, ideally within government or MOD environments.
. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including producing clear reports and data visualisations for diverse audiences.
. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with ability to gather requirements and deliver insights for decision-making.
. High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

Essential Skills:
. Methodology Development: Experience designing robust data collection and analysis methodologies, tailored to organisational goals and agreed metrics (eg, KPI frameworks, monitoring the SME landscape, and spend tracking).
. Data Gathering Tools & Systems: Proficiency in selecting, developing, and configuring data-gathering tools such as surveys, dashboards or databases to enable accurate, efficient, and scalable data collection.
. Reporting & Data Visualisation: Ability to produce regular and ad hoc reports, presentations, and data visualisations that communicate complex findings to varied audiences (including leadership and non-technical stakeholders).
. Data Governance & Compliance: Knowledge of data governance principles, privacy (GDPR), and security standards, especially in government or defence sector contexts.
. Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to collaborate with internal teams and external partners to understand requirements, align data approaches, and deliver useful insights.
