Role Overview

The SAP SAC Planning Architect will lead the architectural definition of a Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB) migration from Anaplan to SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) Planning. This is a short-term, high-impact engagement focused on defining the full solution blueprint and delivering implementation-ready documentation.

This is not a junior builder role. The Architect will establish design standards, architectural direction, and detailed build guidance that the implementation team will execute. The project cannot proceed successfully without this role defining the architectural foundation.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Validation

• Review functional documentation and planning requirements.
• Conduct clarification sessions with finance stakeholders and subject matter experts.
• Validate reporting, planning, and security requirements.
• Document assumptions, risks, and open questions.

SAC Planning Architecture Design (Core Focus)

• Design the end-to-end SAC Planning architecture including:
  • Planning model structure
  • Dimension modeling
  • Security framework
  • Data integration architecture
  • Data actions and advanced formulas
  • Calendar configuration and version management
  • Performance and scalability optimization
• Ensure the solution aligns with SAC best practices and enterprise governance standards.
• Secure stakeholder approval across Finance and IT teams.

Implementation-Ready Build Documentation

• Translate architecture into detailed, step-by-step configuration instructions.
• Provide sequencing logic and build guidance suitable for hands on model builders.
• Produce a Technical Solution Design (TSD) that enables execution without ambiguity.

Architecture Oversight

• Conduct weekly architecture review sessions to validate build alignment.
• Answer clarifying questions and confirm design intent.Ensure implementation adheres to documented architectural standards.

Required Skills and Experience

• 8-10+ years of hands on SAP SAC Planning architecture experience.
• Deep expertise in SAC Planning models and enterprise level solution design.
• Strong experience with:
  • Data actions
  • Advanced formulas
  • Security modeling
  • Version management
  • Performance optimization
• 5+ years of experience designing SAP backend data integrations, including SAP tables and views.
• Experience completing multiple SAC integrations (3-5 preferred).
• Proven ability to produce implementation ready technical documentation.
• Strong understanding of finance planning processes including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Ability to challenge requirements constructively and guide stakeholders toward scalable solutions.
• Excellent communication and documentation discipline.

Preferred Skills

• Experience leading Anaplan to SAC migrations.
• Exposure to global planning deployments across multiple regions.
• Prior experience working in finance transformation or enterprise planning environments.
