Blue chip client is urgently looking for a SAP CO S/4 HANA Expert.

FOR THIS ROLE YOU CAN WORK REMOTELY FROM THE EU ONLY

Role: SAP S/4HANA Controlling Subject Matter Expert

Start: End of September/1st October

Length: 6-12 months contract

Allocation: 32-40 hours/week

Language: English (German or Dutch is a pre)

Location: Remote from EU location. Travel to Berlin, Stockholm, Amsterdam occasionally.

The SME will be part of the Controlling Cost Allocation team. This is about overhead expense allocations (IT, staff function expenses) - in wave 3 they are multi-cycled and a bit more complex so the client decided on an additional allocation tool, PAPM (for PAPM itself we have already someone). This CO role is to align overhead expense postings and value flows in S4 to the FIM and corporate core design, alongside PAPM allocations, also to probably provide S4 standard (Universal Allocation) solutions next to PAPM.

Role

As a SAP Controlling Content IT SME, you play a critical client-facing role and show the ability to clearly articulate the business value and change impact of S/4HANA Finance Transformations. You are able to articulate the benefits of new SAP technology to our clients. You interpret client requirements and translates these into a solution, applying the standard SAP S/4HANA end-to-end business processes in Controlling, specifically:

Margin Analysis
Designing the new business requirements by performing a fit/gap analysis of current architecture of the organization and sap standard
Overhead Accounting
Universal Allocation
In alignment with PaPm solution, there might be a gap to be covered by UA.
Based on the current architecture and best practices of SAP we ask you to guide the business for a efficient future solution
Cost Allocation
There is a strong knowledge required in the area of cost allocation, based on the current global design and SAP standard, we ask you to guide the business in their new cost allocation model.

You bring a strong Finance background and act as a subject matter expert in SAP FI-CO. Based on the global Finance template and new business requirements, you guide the design of future-proof solutions, leveraging standard S/4HANA capabilities. You provide direction to the implementation team and ensure business alignment.

Beyond Controlling, you understand the broader SAP landscape and can engage with related areas such as:

Portfolio & Project Management (SAP PPM, SAP PS)
Enterprise Asset Management
Master Data Management

Project Context

Our client is running a multi-year S/4HANA program across 150 legal entities in 6 EMEA countries. The goal is to harmonize and standardize Finance processes across regions (Nordics, Netherlands, Germany), replacing fragmented ECC systems.

The program is structured in two waves.
Wave 1 is live and wave is in realization and targets go-live in January 2027.
Wave 3 has just kicked off Fit-to-Template workshops and is planned for go-live in January 2028.
Global templates are finalized; local requirements are being mapped and validated.

Team

You will join the Controlling core team within the S/4HANA program, working closely with the Finance business lead, IT lead, business consultants, and key stakeholders from business units.

Qualifications

Strong consulting background with at least 3 full-cycle S/4HANA implementations
Deep SAP Controlling knowledge (Margin Analysis, Overhead, PS/PPM, revenue recognition)
Ability to architect and drive end-to-end Controlling solutions in S/4HANA
Solid understanding of integration with related modules and business processes
Self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to drive topics independently
Experience in SAP Activate project environments
SAP S/4HANA Finance certification preferred
Dutch or German language skills are a strong plus
