Salmon Conservation Hatchery Manager - Ireland
Posted 2 hours 20 minutes ago by The Institute of Fisheries Management
Salmo Salar Ltd (SSL) has been contract managing Ireland's Electricity Supply Board's (ESB) Salmon Conservation Hatcheries on the Rivers Erne, Shannon and Lee for almost two decades. Apart from producing and releasing reared ranched salmon smolts, the company also collects, transports and releases upstream migrating elvers and downstream migrating silver eels and assists with stock surveys within ESB's river catchments.
To support ESB's Sustainable River Strategy (SRS), Salmo Salar Ltd is currently seeking to appoint a Salmon Conservation Hatchery Manager on a contract basis with at least 5 years practical experience, including a minimum of 2 years at managerial level.
Candidates should have a fisheries related third level degree or equivalent academic qualification, and a full clean driving licence, preferably covering trailer towing (BE licence category). Experience in fish stock surveys techniques involving electrofishing and fish telemetry would also be advantageous.
