Job Purpose:

To support our external Sales Teams with the technical proposals needed to help drive profitable business. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the Electrical Utilities Market (DNO, IDNO, ICP, EV, Renewables, rail sectors or export markets etc.). Our candidate will have excellent communication skills, good knowledge of the Electrical industry and preferably hold an HNC or higher in electrical engineering.

Lucy Electric is an international leader in intelligent secondary power distribution products and solutions, with features such as remote operation and monitoring. Linking energy generation to consumption, the business specialises in high-performance medium and low-voltage switchgear for utility, industrial and commercial applications.

Job Dimensions:

As a member of the sales and tendering team, you will be on the 'front line', dealing with initial customer contact through email, telephone calls, answering technical product questions, and collating and issuing appropriate sales materials and quotations as guided by the sales team. Fully supported by the Sales Channel Heads and other departments, you will take ownership of ensuring our customers receive best in class customer service, responding to their enquiry or request for information with enthusiasm and professionalism. The role may involve travel to other Lucy Group offices in the UK and customer premises. It will also involve supporting the external sales team with their activities. This is a salaried position, offered at a competitive market rate + benefits, working for a prestigious UK manufacturer.

Key Accountabilities:
  1. Support the Sales Teams with the sales and tendering process by assisting with tender preparation, administration, contract handover, customer call handling, and sales generation.
  2. Assist the Sales Teams in gathering data and following up on their actions.
  3. Communicate customer requirements internally.
  4. Manage customer order handover to Customer Services/Contract Management team.
  5. Follow-up on open tenders to assist the Sales Teams.
  6. Support UK Distributors.
  7. Assist with Level 1 (standard product enquiries) technical queries received by phone or email.
  8. Undertake any other duties as required to maintain and improve the company's efficiency, quality, and service.
  9. Comply with all company policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality.
Position Responsibilities:
  1. Receive customer enquiries via email, phone, and web portals.
  2. Review specifications, technical drawings, and schematics to understand customer requirements and match with suitable products.
  3. Coordinate and drive internal input from departments including Operations, Technical, Marketing, Quality, Logistics, Finance, Customer Services, and Legal.
  4. Create customer quotations from a database of pre-configured products.
  5. Prepare customer tenders with bespoke solutions.
  6. Maintain tender procedures, templates, documentation, and post-sales contract handover.
  7. Operate and update the CRM system.
  8. Maintain archive control.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience: Minimum Qualifications:
  • GCSEs in Maths, English, and a Science or ICT subject.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience quoting capital equipment worldwide, working from engineering drawings, schematics, or technical specifications is advantageous.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
  • Familiarity with the UK Electrical Utilities Market (DNO, IDNO, ICP, EV, Renewables, rail).
  • Experience in B2B sectors like Oil & Gas, Infrastructure, Transportation.
  • Knowledge of export markets, INCO terms, and tender bonds.
  • Experience with CAD applications.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and techniques.
  • Degree/HND/GNVQ in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
  • Experience administering CRM systems.
  • Understanding of contractual and INCO terms and conditions.
  • Commercial awareness of margins and factors.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, managing stakeholder expectations.
